Project overview
This event will count down 30 days to the premiere of the DMC anime in April 2025. On each day of the countdown, contributors will post and have their works shared by the event’s social accounts. This includes Twitter, Bluesky, and Tumblr.
Who can participate?
Anyone who can make something! Artists, writers, cosplayers, and more. If you can make it yourself, you can be a part of this community project. Anybody who is interested is encouraged to participate regardless of skill level.
However, if you cannot be cordial with other DMC fans or if you are uncomfortable with other possible participants, reconsider if this is an appropriate project for you. What are the requirements for submissions?
Your submission must be new work, made by you, and feature DMC content appropriate for a community-wide event. Read our Guidelines page for expectations.
Can I request a specific day or number?
Yes, but don’t expect anything. In the application form, there is a section to make a request (with some pitch suggestions!).
There are no guarantees around these requests being honored, though we will consider all of them. Aside from that, dates will be assigned randomly.Do I need to have a specific social media account?
No. This event will be hosted on Twitter/X, Bluesky, and Tumblr. If you do not have one of those social media accounts, we’d like permission to post your work there on your behalf with credit and a link back to your preferred account, though this is not required.
For writers, we will post a pre-made graphic with your submission’s information for the sake of consistency. Will there be a discord server?
No. Coordination with contributors will be primarily via email.
How do I sign up?
Read through the Guidelines page and find the link to the application form at the bottom.

Guidelines and Rules

General Guidelines

‣ All submissions must be directly related to Devil May Cry.
‣ Works must be made new for this event. Do not submit works you have posted previously.
‣ Works must be original and made by you. AI generated submissions are not welcome. If you are a cosplayer and hire a photographer, credit them appropriately in your post.
‣ Official content like graphics or cutscenes can be used to make your submission (like a GMV). If you make a video from gameplay, it should be your own.

Content Guidelines

‣ Submissions with a visual element must feature their assigned “[x] Days Left” in the work itself.
‣ Canon-typical violence.
‣ Canon-typical drug and alcohol use.
‣ Nothing sexually explicit - suggestive is okay, but keep it pretty sfw.
‣ Preferably gen - little to no shipping/not featured heavily in your submission.
‣ No crossovers or original characters. Keep it to DMC characters and content.
‣ Any canon outside of the games is fine (Grue, Beryl, DmC, etc.).
‣ AUs are fine.
‣ There’s no minimum word limit or art specifications. Please use your best effort to contribute something that you’re proud of.
Send a message if you’re not certain about anything!

Posting Your Work

‣ Post works on the day of your assignment using Eastern Standard Time.
‣ As an exception to the above, writers are asked to post their works somewhat before so that we can prepare a graphic and post. Please wait to promote them until the proper day.
‣ Use #dmccountdown in your post.
‣ Tag the event socials! This can be in a reply if you’d prefer.
‣ Send a confirmation and links to your posts so they can be promoted.
This event will be hosted on Twitter/X, Bluesky, and Tumblr. If you do not have one of those social media accounts, we’d like permission to post your work there on your behalf with credit. This is a request, not an obligation. You can indicate your preference on the application, and we will coordinate in the pre-posting check-in. Overall the goal is to ensure that post engagement remains with the original contributor as much as possible. For writers, the event account will post a pre-made graphic for the sake of consistency and visibility. This will include your name, the countdown day, the work’s title, the work’s summary, a link to the work itself, and a link to your social. You are, of course, more than welcome to post your own promo to have boosted as well.Want an example of how a countdown submission should look? Check out the KH3 Countdown or the TOSR Countdown! If you have any questions about expectations regarding your submission or posting online, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email at [email protected].

Prompts

Want some ideas for how to incorporate your number into your submission? Here’s some examples! If you find any of these particularly inspiring, they are open for anyone to use as their own pitch.Remember, integrating your number literally/thematically is neither required nor expected for your submission. It’s just fun to do so when you can!‣ Time passed - Example: DMC 1 Trish mentioning “20 years ago”
‣ Time looking forward/literal countdown - Example: One week until…
‣ Dates - Example: June 15th in DMC 5
‣ Age or a birthday - Example: Dante and Vergil are 19 in DMC 3 or Dante is 28 in DMC 1
‣ A prompt from any of the numbered missions in any of the games
‣ A 5+1 format (with varying numbers)
‣ A straightforward number - Example: V has 3 familiars (+ Phantom if you like)
‣ Incorporating the number visually - Example: The 0 in the 10/20/30 is a pizza or how the DMC 3 pre-mission cutscenes used them
‣ ”I am but two days old.”
